Severe Medication Side Effects Cause Psychotic Break And Hospitalization (The Dying Logs Day 15)

It’s difficult for me to things and there are many many massive gaps in my memory.

So I’ll be brief. I was forced to run a course of the antibiotic Augmentin. I was in severe pain and often threw up.

As is typical, antibiotics is a massive Crohns trigger for me. I’ve learned the best tolerated by far is Cefdinir. Unfortunately it seems to be losing effectiveness but that’s a separate issue.

Basically after 7 days on this course of Augmentin for Pnemonia (thankfully it killed the bladder bacteria as well) I woke up in the AM in excruciating joint pain…. All over but throbbing worse in my right hip.

I went to the ER and was given a prednisone shot and Z pack of prednisone pills.

I took the medicine, was super amped up and couldn’t sleep. I started acting very erratically and my father called the cop.

I was hallucinating on and off including thinking my dad was bleeding and trying to kill me.

I remember this vaguely. I was able to calm down after taking a benzo dose.

After this however, I went ballistic and I have zero memory. Apparently I was sure my dad had committed suicide. I also couldn’t stop throwing up.

End up at the hospital and was so out if it I don’t remember anything for a while. I’m not sure when I started snapping out of it.

I am now off the Augmentin and prednisone and while my brain is clearly not as coherent as days before I’m trying to recover.

I wasn’t okay. I could have hurt myself or gotten arrested during this episode and I don’t know if I will ever know what the hell I was doing.

I am lucky. It could have been worse I think. I’m ready to move past this but I may need to take a bit of a break. I’m going to come back stronger than ever.
